Mesoscale Wind Modeling
With the WeatherFlow Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (WRAMS), WeatherFlow meteorologists achieve an unprecedented level of detail in modeling the complex flows within the boundary layer. WRAMS combines information from the latest generation of land use and surface roughness databases with real time data from remote sensing, WeatherFlow’s proprietary observing networks, and other data sources to support model horizontal resolutions as small as .67 km and explicit vertical resolutions of 15 meters.
Post-processing algorithms provide the opportunity to integrate empirically-observed patterns with the model output, capturing and accounting for small scale effects that are not captured by the model physics. These techniques allow the WeatherFlow modeling solution to be a unique mix of physics, statistics, and expert system and place it at the leading edge of run time, resolution, and accuracy.
