»Senior Java Developer

WeatherFlow is seeking a well-rounded Java developer to apply innovative ideas as we expand the implementation of our “weather engine”.  You should have a good understanding of Java and experience in a practical production environment.
Responsibilities

  • Developing server-side code for our weather-centric web applications.
  • Gathering requirements, writing unit tests, documenting code and tracking defects as they occur.
  • Working with a small team of web development professionals.
  • Contributing to the broader growth and culture of WeatherFlow.

Required skills/experience

  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Solid J2EE Java development experience and talent.
  • A good handle on object-oriented design and implementation.
  • Experience with SQL and JDBC.

Helpful skills/experience

  • Fondness for weather data.
  • Desire to live and work in a small, beach-side community.
  • Comfort in a Linux environment.
  • Experience writing unit tests and functional tests.
  • Experience using OpenSource frameworks and the Eclipse IDE.
  • Broad knowledge of software industry and technology.
  • Use of open source project management tools.

»Web Applications Developer

WeatherFlow is seeking a well-rounded web applications developer to build innovative interfaces on top of our “weather engine”.  You should have a good understanding of all facets of web application development and experience in a practical production environment.
Responsibilities

  • Developing front-end code for our weather-centric web applications, primarily in ColdFusion.
  • Gathering requirements, writing unit tests, documenting code and tracking defects as they occur.
  • Working with a small team of web development professionals.
  • Contributing to the broader growth and culture of WeatherFlow.

Required skills/experience

  • 1-3 years of experience.
  • Solid web development experience and talent.
  • A good graphical eye and a strong handle on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including AJAX)
  • Experience with specific web application technologies like PHP, ASP, .Net, ColdFusion or JSP
  • Experience with SQL
