WeatherFlow is Hiring!

»National Mesonet Engineer (aka “Road Warrior”)

WeatherFlow designs, installs, and maintains proprietary weather station networks. Candidate will help install and maintain these networks. Typical work load is one week on the road, one-to-two weeks at the office preparing for the next trip. The ideal candidate is three years out of college, has strong problem-solving skills, enjoys travelling, enjoys climbing, and is in excellent physical condition. Many weather stations are on navigation aids and require a boat ride out to install/service them. Given the difficulty in reaching the aid (chartering a boat, waiting for a weather window, etc.), you get one and only one shot at doing the job. Even the best preparation does not always prepare one for what they may face. Thus, candidate must be able to think and act independently to find a solution.

Some weather stations are on RADAR/Radio towers. Candidate will be sent to “tower climbing school” for professional safety instruction.

PREREQUISITES REQUIRE GOOD ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, PROACTIVE WORK ETHIC (CANDIDATE WILL BE GIVEN TIME TO WORK ON, OR CREATE PROJECTS OF THEIR CHOICE), AND DESIRE TO MAKE DISCERNABLE POSITIVE IMPACT IN A GROWING BUSINESS. A DEGREE IN ENGINEERING, SCIENCE, OR TECHNOLOGY REQUIRED. CANDIDATE MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH TRAVEL (UP TO 50%) AND  NON-STANDARD HOURS (WE WORK UNTIL THE JOB IS DONE).

»Weather Forecaster - Part Time

WeatherFlow is looking for a shift forecaster to perform precision wind forecasts. These forecasts are for windsurfers, kitesurfers, and sailors in select areas of the country.    Experience with water related wind activities strongly desired.

This is a part time position and forecasts can be done from a home office. Preference will be for someone residing in the Eastern Time Zone.

»Web Applications Developer

Join our growing IT office in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and help us build and maintain leading edge, weather-centered web applications. Ideal candidate should enjoy solving complex programming challenges using a variety of languages and 3rd party tools. You will wear many hats, but your primary responsibilities will be helping to write the applications that drive the front-end appearance of the website(s), as well as those that process the dynamically-generated graphics and data on the back-end.

WeatherFlow is a small but growing business. You will become a critical member of our tech team, so communication and problem solving skills, initiative, and desire to learn are valued as much as experience.

Requirements:

Demonstrable knowledge of PHP, Perl, SQL, and Linux systems a must. Experience with GIS systems, Cold Fusion, and Flash is also important, but not required. Windows and Linux systems administration experience a plus.
