Other Networks and Data

One of the most frustrating aspects of modern meteorology is the inability of many systems to show data from different sources and networks on a single display. In addition to our own data, we also display data from a variety of other authoritative sources, including official National Weather Service sites and the National Ocean Service’s PORTS sites. In the coastal zones where WeatherFlow focuses, the combination of these relatively sparse official stations with the Weatherflow Coastal Mesonet dramatically increases the quantity and quality of data available to both forecaster and decision maker. We are also working now to systematically include selected observations from NOAA’s Meteorological Assimilation Data Ingest System (MADIS), making tens of thousands of additional high quality observations accessible to our systems.
