»Mesonet Reliability
WeatherFlow uses it’s decades of experience in designing and installing weather stations to deploy the most reliable monitoring stations available. Reliability not only implies structural stability and durability of the field equipment but also the stability of network communications, servers, as well as the security of the data.
The WeatherFlow Hurricane Mesonet is a perfect example of our installations specifically designed to withstand extreme wind events.
»Weather Station infastructure
Proprietary communication and computer technologies enable WeatherFlow weather stations to go years without required maintenance. In early August of 2004 one of the best examples of WeatherFlow station integrity occured on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This first Atlantic hurricane of the season blossomed off of the Outer Banks catching many forecasters by surprise. Using WeatherFlow’s dense Outer Banks station coverage, the National Hurricane Center and other entities were able to accurately track and assess the hurricanes track and impact.

»Data and Network reliability and Security
WeatherFlow systems are located at a tier 1 colocation provider with state-of-the-art power and communication backups. Physical access to equipment is protected by multi-layer security control procedures, incuding individual photo security badges and biometric scanners. The colocation facility is monitored 24×7 by closed-circuit video and alarm systems. Our internal data network is protected by WeatherFlow maintained firewall, intrusion detection, and intrusion prevention appliances. Server integrity is monitored by a suite of host based intrusion detection systems.
