Consumer Products
From its earliest days, WeatherFlow’s consumer applications have pushed the boundaries of Meteorology and data delivery to satisfy enthusiasts of weather critical activities.
At the foundation of these products is our premium weather station network where every station is professionally sited and installed to maximize its accuracy for the target area. Over the years, we have added additional competencies such as our own Meteorological staff that provides daily briefings and our own customized WRAMS forecast model featuring resolution computer forecasts down to 1km.
From dial in recorded “voice reports” and pagers, to today’s web, social, and smart phone technologies, our consumer services have been an early adopter to take advantage of the changing communications medium. All consumer applications offer a Free base product which incorporates all publicly available weather data while a premium membership is needed only for content exclusive to WeatherFlow. These applications are a perfect example of what WeatherFlow has done to satisfy specific niche needs. What can WeatherFlow do for you?
Here is a list of our current applications and development plans (December, 2012):
WindAlert was the first application to be driven entirely by WeatherFlow’s Weather Engine. It is Freely available via the web, iPhone/iPad, and Android. We are still developing this powerful product because it is the consumer based front end for the WeatherFlow weather engine and today it serves as both an alternative and a companion product for our other applications. Already the features that were developed through WindAlert are available in SailFlow and Fishweather.
SailFlow has been upgraded to be driven by the WeatherFlow Weather Engine. More information about what’s new in SailFlow. SailFlow mobile apps are now Freely available for iPhone/iPad, and Android under the name SailFlow.
Our kitesurfing website is being updated and a host of new community features are being added. Some features, like the attractive new Classifieds section, have already been launched while others will progressively be released this spring. iKitesurf mobile applications are now Freely available for iPhone/iPad, and Android under the name iKitesurf.
Our original application which is now a mainstay for all North American windsurfers will be receiving an upgrade to include new features and codebase while preserving yet improving the popular community features. This relaunch should occur summer 2013. iWindsurf mobile apps are now Freely available for iPhone/iPad, and Android under the name iWindsurf.
FishWeather has been upgraded to be driven by the WeatherFlow Weather Engine. More information about what’s new in FishWeather. Fishweather mobile apps are now Freely available for iPhone/iPad, and Android under the name FishWeather.
The exciting upgrades to our consumer services are made possible by WeatherFlow’s powerful “Weather Engine” API. As the Weather Engine completes its first development cycle it is gradually being added into our “classic” websites (as seen on the new SailFlow and FishWeather). We know that many users have become accustomed to the look, feel, and functions of the classic websites so we will make every effort to maintain access to those products. We encourage your feedback and ideas to help our applications be the most useful for whatever activity you pursue.
